Keeping The Legacy Alive
While visiting the slave quarters of a plantation, God told Dr. Lawrence, "Don't let the legacy die". Having a love for her formerly enslaved ancestors, black memorabilia, and performing, Lawrence started a black history production company, Legacy Showcases, comprised of stage performances, film, a pop-up museum, slave choral group, workshops, and more. She later founded a 501 C 3 non-profit organization, Heiress Productions, Inc., not only to honor the African slaves, but to provide aid to Africa, and to bring healing and unity between African Americans and Africans due to the damage that resulted from the atrocities of slavery.
